WFH Productivity Hacks

Did you know nearly 75% of Canadians who began working from home at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic were still working remotely at the end of August?

With the threat of coronavirus sticking around and continued restrictions regarding social distancing, more and more companies are adapting to the work from home model. Working remotely definitely has its perks, but there’s no denying there are challenges as well. #1 on the list of challenges: staying productive. Here are a few tips to help with productivity while working from home:

🌱 Execute your morning routine as if you were going into an office. Wake up, get ready, have your coffee, and head to “work” even if your office is your couch. It’s tempting to stay in your pyjamas or sweats all day, but dressing for work truly makes a difference.

🌱 Set up your space, and make sure it’s tidy. There’s nothing more distracting than a messy and disorganized workspace. Your time is valuable, so don’t waste any by looking for things you need in a mess.

🌱 Set a schedule, and stick to it. Although working remotely allows for more flexible work hours, it’s important to have set working hours. This includes time for lunch and short breaks. Knowing you’re on a set schedule makes it easier to focus on finishing a task.

🌱 Make time to communicate with other people. Working remotely can become incredibly lonesome, especially if you live alone or are not communicating regularly with coworkers. Make time to brainstorm and collaborate with colleagues, and schedule time away from work with friends and family to keep loneliness at bay.
